Whenever i was younger we used to receive National Geographic and one month there was a map of Europe of in it. For as long as i can remember Europe has been a dream of mine, and i put that map on my wall, and every night before i would go to bed i would trace my fingers over the countries and dream about going there. In October i will be going for the first time ever while getting paid. It was something that just opened up for me, and its happening. I feels so surreal i am even taking on a second job to help me. I remember writing at the beginning of this year that i would be going to Europe and that i would be published. Well this blog takes care of half of that :).

Dreams coming true

Who am i?
My name is Victoria Gaxiola, and i am 27 years old. I chose this topic of conversation because in the past 9 years since i have graduated high school there has been so much transition. I believe the biggest transition was between ages 20-25 the past two years have been fundamental. In my own life i was always told who i was; fortunately they were positive affirmations but unfortunately those words became more like an entitlement instead of something i worked for or grew into.

When you have your plans, and destiny has another one
It is interesting that we should have this project at this time in my life. When you are in your 20's i think the most common questions are what are you going to do next? When you are in a relationship it is always "is this is the one?", when you start college it is "what are your plans after this?". We asked for the majority of our lives to plan for tomorrow, and not only to plan, but to know with certainty what the future would hold. I believe it installs a false sense of certainty when if there is anything that history can tell us, is that we have control over nothing. Two years ago I would have never been able to tell you where i am to today, much less as an 18 year old. I am now 27, will be visiting Europe for the first time in my life in October which to be perfectly honest is a lifelong dream of mine. I will be getting my associates in December which has taken me on and off the last 8 years. I will then transfer to UHD and hopefully after a semester there finish my accounting/CPA degree at Mays business school. I say all this to express that when i was in middle school my dream was to go Oxford i was going to be a literary phenomenon i would live in the continent of my dreams and marry a european. As a 27 year old my dreams, are less about me and more about the effect my life will have in those that come in contact with it. The pulse of my community, and the way i live my life is all directly correlated with the overall health of my mind, body and spirit. I can plan all i want, but i all i can really do is to walk the way foreseeable to me right now, and to continue to keep my hear to the ground and my heart, and my mind clear. I don't know what the end will look like, but i have hope.
